Lawrence Give Back

FAQ

  1. What is the Lawrence Give Back Card?
It’s a FREE card for Lawrence residents designed to help local Lawrence charities raise needed funds, save money for cardholders and promote locally owned independent businesses at no charge. It’s Win-Win for everyone.
  2. What’s the catch? What’s the gimmick?
There are no gimmicks. The Lawrence Give Back Card is simply designed to drive additional business to these participating merchants who are Giving Back to our community in a BIG WAY. When we give our business to these merchants, they are making charitable donations on our behalf AND they are rewarding us for our loyalty buying loyalty by rebating a % of every dollar we spend with them.
  3. What businesses are participating?
You can view a list of all of our participating merchants here. NOTE: If you’re a local, independent business in Lawrence interested in joining the Give Back network of businesses, contact: cwolfe@lawrencegiveback.com. The vision of the Lawrence Give Back Card program is to promote only locally owned, independent businesses which are the lifeblood of our community.
  4. What is the Lawrence Originals?
They are a group of 23 of Lawrence’s best, independently owned restaurants. For a list of names go to www.lawrenceoriginals.com.
  5. How does the card work?
When you make your normal purchase at any of our participating merchants, your card is swiped through the terminal. The data from your transaction is collected and the charity that you have selected will receive a portion of your purchase from the participating merchants. In addition, you will receive points for the dollars you spend. Once you earn 200 points, a $10 gift is automatically loaded onto your card, and the points start all over again. There is no limit in the amount of gift dollars you can accumulate. The gift dollars are redeemable at any of the participating merchants.
  6. Where do I get my FREE card?
You can pick up a card at any of our participating merchants.
  7. What if I lose my card?
You can pick up a new card at any of our participating merchants. Once you have a new card, locate the 16-digit number off of the back of it and e-mail this information to cwolfe@lawrencegiveback.com. We can then transfer your points and credit if any to the new card.
  8. How do I know if my card has been credited with my rebate points?
At the time of purchase, look at your receipt. It will show a 'Previous Rewards' total, which is the total you had prior to your current purchase, and there will be a 'Current Rewards' total, which will be the updated point total. If you make a transaction and your 'Current Rewards' total is still the same as your 'Previous Rewards' total, ask the merchant cashier or your restaurant server to verify why you didn’t get your points credited. Also, after 24 hours from the time you make a transaction, you may check online to see if points earned from that transaction have been credited to your card. If they have not or there is any discrepancy, do NOT contact the business. Simply e-mail cwolfe@lawrencegiveback.com to advise of any problems.
  9. What if I forgot to use my card?
In the event that you made a purchase at a Give Back merchant and forgot to use your card, you can email cwolfe@lawrencegiveback.com with the location and amount of purchase and we can manually put the points onto your card.
  10. How much are my rebates and how do they get credited to my card?
You can find a complete list of merchant point allocations here. For every dollar you spend at Lawrence Originals™ restaurants [exclusive of alcohol, tax and gratuity], you earn one point; for every 15 dollars spent at Checkers [excluding tax], you earn one point. Other participating merchant rebates vary. Every time your card has earned 200 points, these points will be converted to a credit of $10 loaded onto your card. When you have $10 or more credit on your card, simply tell the merchant cashier or your restaurant server that you wish to use this credit toward your purchase.
  11. How can I find out how many points or credits I have on my card?
There are two ways. You can go online to our website and enter your card number or you can ask at any participating merchant to run a balance for you.
  12. How do I select the charity?
You can go to our website homepage and enter all of your information in the "Activate My Card Now" box on the right side of the page. Select your charity of choice and hit "Activate". It only takes 30 seconds.
  13. How will the charities get the donation and how will I know they’ll get it?
On a quarterly basis, we generate a check and a report for each charitable organization which details the cardholders and a total amount of their purchases. You can check your purchases on our website www.lawrencegiveback.com.html to ensure your card is registered with the charity of your choice. Additionally, you can contact your chosen charitable organization to verify that you are on the report they received with their check to ensure that your purchases were accounted in their donation.
  14. Are the charitable donations to the charity I select deductible on my taxes?
Since our participating merchants are writing the checks for the charitable contribution, cardholders are NOT able to take a tax deduction. However, it is YOUR SELECTION of the charity that determines where the merchants’ charitable donations are directed!
  15. Can I select more than one charity or change my charity selection?
At present, you cannot select more than one charity for a single card. You can, however, change your charity selection by going to our website homepage www.lawrencegiveback.com and re-entering all of your information in the "Activate My Card Now" box on the right side of the page. Select your new charity of choice and hit "Activate". It is necessary to type in all of your information because this entry will over-ride your previous registration.
  16. Can I donate my rebates to a charity?
Yes, but the only way this can be done at the present time is for you to give your card, with your unused credit, to the charity. The unused credit rebates on the card could then be used by the charity at their discretion. These card rebates may only be used toward purchases at participating businesses. They may not be redeemed for cash.
  17. If I know people and/or charities in other cities that might be interested in helping their community raiser money with a similar card, who do I contact?
Please e-mail cwolfe@lawrencegiveback.com and use as a Subject: Requesting information on charity card.
  18. Why did I get a negative point balance on my receipt?
Every time your card has earned 200 points, these points will be converted to a credit of $10 loaded onto your card. When your card reaches the 200 point threshold, the negative point balance you are seeing on your receipt is the amount of points being subtracted to get your card’s current point balance back to zero. You are not actually earning a negative point balance, it is just how the system keeps track of when to load the $10 onto your card and get you back to earning your next 200 points.
